FAQs
Types of Tours
What types of tours do you provide?
Links Travel & Tours supplies Group Tours, Tailor-Made Journeys, Semi-Escorted and Private tours.
What is a Group Tour?
For the Group Tour you will be sharing the transport, guides and meals with other passengers – this is the option we recommend for those who like a fixed schedule, pre-ordered meals and enjoy meeting other people. They normally have restricted departure dates.
What is a Private Tour?
The Private Tour is a lot more flexible and better suited to travellers who have particular sights and activities in mind, that are not covered in the Group Tours. You will have private transport and a guide throughout your stay. All our Group Tours are available as a Private Tour.
What is a Tailor-Made Journey?
These are itineraries that are tailored to your specific requirements, including attractions, hotels, transport and flights. We have a selection of tailor-made itineraries on our website, which can be used as inspiration for your own tour, or followed as described.
What is a Semi-Escorted Tour?
Available in Japan only, our semi-escorted tours are ideal for the traveller who is looking to see the country at their own pace. They allow you the freedom to choose what to see, when, and how long to spend in each location. They provide total independence along with support and advice from the experts at Links Travel & Tours, plus you will still have the services of guides and assistants on certain days for arrival transfers and city tours
Does the tour price include entrance fee’s to the sights listed?
Yes – all entrance fees are included in the price.
Does the tour include all transfers to/from sights/hotels/airports?
Yes – all transfers are included in the price (unless otherwise stated on your itinerary).
Local Guides
Upon your arrival at the airport, the Guide will be waiting for you in the arrivals hall holding up a sign with your name on it. For the daily excursions and transfers, the guide will assign a time to meet in the lobby of the hotel. The guide will provide their contact number for you, in case you need assistance outside the hours of the sight-seeing activities. If you booked a holiday without transfers, your local representative will make contact with you at the hotel and leave their contact details for you.

Our local representatives will do their utmost to accommodate any requests, and where possible, suggest alternative routes.
Please advise us of any special needs in advance, and we will do our utmost to provide support, including wheelchair assistance.
Tipping
Is tipping expected?
While it may not always be expected, tips can go a long way and are a great way to show your appreciation.
Who should I tip?
We would generally suggest that you should tip your guide/driver and we can advise you on appropriate amounts. It is also considered proper to make a small donation to temples, especially if the monks have shown you around.
Travel Insurance
Do I need Travel Insurance for my trip to Asia?
Yes, there’s only one thing worse than having to make an insurance claim for some misfortune that may have occurred on holiday – and that’s not being able to make a claim because you’re not properly insured. Travel insurance is a necessity should you become unwell, either before or during your holiday. It not only protects you financially, it ensures the quality of overseas medical care is of a standard you would expect. It also covers emergency repatriation, should it be deemed necessary.
Who do you recommend?
Links Travel & Tours have teamed up with Holiday Extras to offer our customers a bespoke insurance product that is ideal for our holidays. Holiday Extras are fully authorised and regulated by the FSA, and Links Travel & Tours is an Appointed Representative of Holiday Extras, and as such are authorised to provide travel insurance.
When embarking on any holiday, it is important that your insurance cover level is right. The wide range of policies available means that they are sure to have the cover you need for your trip. Single Trip cover is available for a one-off break, while an Annual Multi-Trip policy will cover all your trips throughout the year.
The policy contains restrictions regarding pre-existing medical problems concerning the health of the people travelling and of other people upon whose health the holiday may depend – even if they are not travelling. Holiday Extras can offer specific travel insurance policies for people with pre-existing conditions so please tell us about these in order for us to quote you appropriately.
Please feel free to contact us today to receive a quote for your travel insurance.
