Why Chiang Rai?
A cultural hub and the gateway to the Golden Triangle
Chiang Rai is located in the mountainous northern area of Thailand, around 200km from Chiang Mai and close to the borders with Myanmar and Laos. From here it is possible to visit the renowned Golden Triangle, where the three countries meet. Chiang Rai has many interesting and elaborate historic temples, including Wat Rong Khun, also known as the White Temple. There are also many scenic highlights and interesting villages in the area to explore.
