Phuket, a mountainous island, provides some of Thailand’s most popular beaches and hotels, is located in the green waters of the Andaman Sea. Patong is the most well-known and liveliest beach resort, playing host to the best of the island’s nightlife, shops, markets and a wide selection of dining establishments. Karon and Kata provide quieter environments with a more local feel. Popular beaches include Bangtao, Kamala, Karon, Kata, Mai Khao, Nai Harn, Patong and Surin. The best time to visit Phuket, is from November through to March.
