A bustling capital city
Malaysia’s capital where you will find historic monuments, shiny skyscrapers, lush parks, giant shopping centres, bustling street markets, and lively nightspots. Join the locals in two of their favourite pastimes: shopping and eating. You can spend all day browsing glitzy air-conditioned malls for designer fare, and Central Market for locally made souvenirs and handicrafts; and Chinatown for the few remaining artisans and antique dealers. This is a city best explored on foot. This way you are sure to come across some of the city's best dining spots: the street food stalls and traditional Kopitiam (coffee shops).
Kuala Lumpur Highlights
Here we have selected a few of the sights and experiences that you really should see on a visit to Kuala Lumpur.
Kuala Lumpur's iconic Petronas Towers rise like rockets into the sky. You can enjoy a 45-minute tour taking in the glass Skybridge on the 41st floor, where you can walk between the two towers, and the observation deck on the 86th, with spectacular city views.
Don’t miss eating at the daytime Madras Lane hawker stalls or savouring the bustle and fun of the night market along Jln Petaling.
Lake Gardens – Tun Abdul Razak Heritage Park
Known locally as the Lake Gardens, this is Kuala Lumpur's largest park, named after the country's second prime minister. The fine botanical garden laid out during the British days remains at the park's heart and is flanked by one of the city's top attractions, the Kuala Lumpur Bird Park. There are lots of other things to see and do here, including visiting the National Planetarium, the Butterfly Park and the striking National Monument.
