Yudanaka is a hot spring resort, dating back hundreds of years, and is famous for some 200 Snow Monkeys that live in this area. A special outdoor bath was built for the monkeys, who have become one of the most photographed sights in Japan. Yudanaka Onsen has a long history as a hot spring resort, but there are also temples and historic buildings to discover. Shibu Onsen is located 2km from Yudanaka Station and boasts many ryokan hotels and hot spring bath-houses. The monkey springs are easily accessible from Shibu Onsen.

Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park
