The winter sports hub of Hakuba, an area that played host to 1998 Winter Olympics, is a highland resort, stretching out from the foot of the Hakuba-Sanzan Mountains (Hakuba's three mountains) in northwestern Nagano. Hakuba Valley is renowned for its snow quality which is dry, deep and consistent powder. It encompasses a huge variety of terrain from tree runs, guided off-piste tours and courses, Terrain Park, banks and double black diamond runs with challenging steep verticals. Hakuba village offers a lively après-ski scene and hot springs.
