Sun Moon Lake
Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area is the largest body of water in Taiwan and known for its five major recreational systems, including the lake, Shueili River, Puli, Jhuoshuei River and Jiji. In addition to enjoying the scenery of Sun Moon Lake, you can also appreciate the Thao tribe and their unique legends. Areas of interest around the lake include Shueishe, Meihe Garden, Hanbi Hiking trail, Ita Thao, Ci En Pagoda and Wunwu Temple. Hualien is the gateway to the Taroko National Park, for attractive beaches and a slower pace of life. The Shapodang Recreation Area is a great place for swimming and pool jumping in the crystal clear waters of the Shapodang River. From the months of April through to October Dolphin watching tours operate, making it an attractive location to spot a variety of sea life.
