Sanya, on the southern end of China’s Hainan Island, has several bays with long white-sand beaches. Renowned for its coral reefs and blue seas. the area is a must-go destination for scuba diving, surfing and other water sports. Sanya's main landmark is Guan Yin, a 108m-high bronze statue standing proud on an artificial island jutting into the sea, as part of the Nanshan Temple complex.
