Saigon Gourmet Week 2019

For the first time in its four year history, the Saigon Gourmet Week 2019 is featuring a full line-up of women chefs. This prestigious event, which coincides with Vietnamese Women’s Day, sees female celebrity and Michelin-Starred chefs fly in from across the globe.

Taking place from 15-20 October 2019, the event aims to honour women and their talents in the world of gastronomy as well as raising awareness for the career-opportunities available to women in the culinary industry.

Chefs taking part include...

Julia Komp from Germany

Julia Komp won her first Michelin star at the age of 28, just six months after taking over as head chef at Schloss Loersfeld in Kerpen, becoming the youngest German female chef to be awarded a Michelin star.

Flora Mikula from France

Flora Mikula is regarded as one of the most talented female chefs in France and certainly one of the best Provençal chefs in Europe. Since opening her current restaurant Auberge Flora, in Paris, she has been awarded Auberge of the year and rated the best restaurant by Condenast Travel.

María José San Román from Spain

María José San Román is one of a select group of female chefs who have put the provinces of Alicante and Valencia on the Spanish haute cuisine map. She is the Chef-patron of the Michelin starred restaurant Monastrell, in the centre of Alicante.

Keiko Nagae from Japan

Chef Keiko Nagae has worked with famous and top-class chefs from around the world. She focuses on taste using fruits, citrus and the Japanese art of presentation when devising her dishes. She has also contributed to the acclaimed food book 'Umami: The Fifth Taste'.
