Sri Lanka & the Maldives
Sri Lanka is the ideal destination for those wanting a honeymoon with a difference. There are the wonderful white sand beaches that people expect of a honeymoon, but there is so much more to see and do. From sipping pure Ceylon Tea at a plantation in Nuwara Eliya, to discovering the variety of wildlife on safari at Yala National Park, spotting, elephants, brown bears and leopards. Add to that the fascinating history evident in the British, Portuguese and Dutch colonial architecture, and the delicious food influenced by so many nations. Then there’s the culture, with the country’s first known Buddhist writings dating back 2,000 years, there are a plethora of temples and shrines to visit. Last but not least the way of life is a lot less hectic than in other parts of Asia, and the people are amongst the friendliest you could meet.

China
Not many people think of China when discussing honeymoons, but there are some great places to discover, where not many western tourists go, and where the old way of life can still be seen. The perfectly named ‘Rainbow Mountains’, looking as if they have been painted from somebody’s imagination, are one such destination. Yunnan Province, home to many ancient tribes, is not only filled with fascinating cultures, but is set amongst some of the most stunningly beautiful landscapes in the country. Then, of course there is Tibet, the spiritual home of Buddhism and once of the Dali Lama, bordering the majestic Himalayas, and the incomparable Mount Everest. After all this exploring, you are bound to want to relax, well that is possible too, on the beautiful beaches of Sanya on Hainan Island.
